
Who is eligible for PM Awas Yojana
Eligibility for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY):
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
- The applicant or any family member must not own a pucca (permanent) house anywhere in India.
- The family should not have received any benefit from any other housing scheme by the Government of India.
- The property must be located within the area covered by the PMAY scheme (urban for PMAY-U or rural for PMAY-G).
- The applicant must meet the income criteria of the category they are applying under.
Income Categories:
- EWS (Economically Weaker Section): Annual income up to ₹3 lakh
- LIG (Lower Income Group): Annual income between ₹3 lakh and ₹6 lakh
- MIG-I (Middle Income Group I): Annual income between ₹6 lakh and ₹12 lakh
- MIG-II (Middle Income Group II): Annual income between ₹12 lakh and ₹18 lakh
Additional Conditions:
- Female ownership or co-ownership of the house is encouraged, especially for EWS and LIG categories.
- For rural PMAY (PMAY-G), preference is given to homeless families, those living in kutcha houses, landless laborers, and families belonging to SC/ST/OBC/minority communities.
